At the Muziekpakhuis in Amsterdam, I currently teach a jazz workshop until the beginning of June.
For signing up and more information: Muziekpakhuis
The workshop is about a period of jazz when composition became more important. Musicians like Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus and Thelonious Monk changed jazz history with their innovative compositions and musicianship.
What makes those pieces so special, and how can we treat them today? What are the consequences for arranging them and improvising on them? All this we explore in the workshop. And last but not least, we simply enjoy playing those great tunes.
